2020: The Year of the Rat

The Challenge of a New Cycle

Blue Mountain Feng Shui Institute was established in 1990 in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A., as the first feng shui school in the world. This year we celebrate our 30th Anniversary!

For the past thirty years, in addition to the United States, we at Blue Mountain Feng Shui have spread its teachings in South American countries, Ukraine, Russia, and other Eastern European countries.

Feng shui has developed over thousands of years. It is most often regarded as living space design. Actually, in the larger picture, this knowledge is really about “living design”: How to live in harmony with Nature and how to live with our heart to be in tune with the universe’s heart. The core of this knowledge is based on Natural Laws and Chi-energy.

Dr. Hsu published his first book on Feng shui, The Fundamentals of Feng Shui in 1999. Followed by Feng Shui for Lovers, The Medicine Box, Feng Shui – Truths, Myths and Misunderstandings (Co-authored by Jenny Nakao Hones) and The Essence of Tea. The most recent book Form Defines Energy – The Essence of Feng Shui, is establishing communication with all design fields. It’s been well received by academia.

Dr. Hsu continues to work on completing the book, The Yin-Yang Theory – The Fundamentals of Natural Laws. Yin-Yang Theory is regarded as the essence of Eastern philosophy. Natural Laws could be regarded as one of the most important guidance for human living. The goal is to be published in 2020.

With the economic growth of China and the relaxing of government suppression of feng shui, recent years has seen a surge in the popularity of feng shui in China. Unfortunately, much of the popular understanding of feng shui is based on astrology, folklore tradition, fortune telling, and even superstition. The true essence of feng shui is missing.

After teaching for 30 years around the world, Dr. Hsu has decided to bring true feng shui back to China. Since last year, he has been giving numerous lectures in different cities around the country. He will continue to focus his teachings there.

In addition, he will continue to teach in other countries and will offer the full certification program from June 20th to July 2nd, at the Blue Mountain headquarters in Seattle, Washington.
Blue Mountain’s approach to teaching has been not to preach, but to make the true knowledge information available to those who seek. We believe that our books, from the first,

Fundamentals of Feng Shui, to the most recent, Form Defines Energy, have given people access to an accurate understanding of Feng Shui. Even those who have not been able to take classes have been able to learn a lot from our books. Yet, we realize that we are behind in reaching a broader audience who can benefit from this knowledge.

At Blue Mountain, we are still happy to respond to questions about feng-shui, and offer what help we can to people who are searching for serious feng-shui teaching.

The first Year of the Chinese 60-year cycle

People are always curious about what the New Year will bring, both in the world scene and in our personal lives.

Rat 2020This year, 2020, the year of the Rat, is the first Year of the Chinese 60-year cycle. Historically, the first year is always a significant year in world events because new energies are coming into manifestation. This Year of the Rat will involve significant turmoil in the military, political, and economic realms. It will also see turmoil in terms of natural disasters.

This is how the new emerging energy cycle works. It’s not good to be anxious about it. We have to safeguard our emotional stability with a calm heart, of which we have control.

The past Year of the Pig was not particularly eventful. This Year of the Rat, however, will be very eventful, and there will be an increase in uncertainty and conflict. However, just as a rat may make holes in a building, but not enough to destroy it, the friction and struggles this year will not trigger a radically destructive event.

On the personal level, from the point of view of Chinese astrology, for people born in the Year of the Rat, it will be a year of change. They should grasp this opportunity to steer these changes in a positive direction.

For people born in the Year of the Horse, it will be a year of challenge. But with challenge can come opportunity. So when challenges arise, look for the opportunity within. For people born in the Years of the Dragon and Monkey, it’ll be a very auspicious year. For those born in the Year of the Ox, it will be very smooth. For those born in the Year of the Sheep, be aware of indirect conflict. Those born in the Year of the Rabbit, they’ll need to work on their relationships. Those born in the Year of the Rooster, may come across small bumps in the road but it will not be crucial. For Tiger and Snake, Dog and Pig, it will be a neutral year: there will be no surprises.

In Yin Yang Theory, there is always yin in yang, and yang in yin. Thus, regardless of your astrology predictions, it’s always important to remember that when things are great be cautious. And when things are not so great, be optimistic.

We should maintain stability of mind and heart, and accept and appreciate whatever happens. Be joyful and grateful for the events in our lives.

We are always thankful to pleasant events or people who are nice to us. But, true thankfulness extends to struggle and difficulties, as they provide the opportunity for growth.

The Year of the Rat, the challenge of a new cycle, is a very eventful and exciting year. Thus, accept, appreciate, and enjoy.

Remember, whatever happens in life, everything is best arranged.

My birthday is December 2, 1969. What will be good for my motor vehicle insurance business? What is the best thing to do to be a successful business woman for 2020? Thank you so much and more power!
